About Me

HELLO! My name is Shaunie Owen I am an educator in Box Elder School District, located in Northern Utah. I was born and raised in Garland, Utah surrounded by a very supportive family and many extracurricular activities. I was always very involved in the education setting whether it was participating as a tri-sport student-athlete, being a member of the FFA & National Honor Society, or serving as a member of our school’s student government. I graduated from Bear River High School in 2012 and continued my education at Utah State University. I spent two years of college with no direction, but after enrolling in Introduction to Elementary Education, I started on my path to becoming an elementary school teacher.

The summer before my last semester at USU, which would have been the semester of student teaching, I was given an opportunity to interview for a teaching position at Foothill Elementary in Brigham City, Utah. I was ultimately hired as an intern and spent my last semester in my own 5th-grade classroom. After teaching 5th grade at Foothill Elementary for two years, I moved my classroom to the north end of our district, the community I grew up in. I recently finished teaching my third year of fifth grade at North Park Elementary! But, as Sam Cooke sings, “A change is gonna come.” While I am still teaching at North Park, I spent the summer gearing up for a grade change! For the 2019-2020 school year, I am teaching 4th grade!

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University, in December 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Since graduating, I have completed an endorsement in STEM Education.
